Christmas Dinner 2008

New HOPe

I am happy to announce that we have a new House of Prayer (HOPe) in Oxford which is at the house of Przemek and Aneta.

Przemek and Aneta have been faithful visiting our house of prayer for over one year and now after becaming members of Koinonia John the Baptist they have started a new ministry, which has already shown fruits with three new people visiting their HOPe.

I am also very happy that Przemek and Aneta are receiving support from Dominika who will also carry this ministry as a new Koinonia member.

Happy birthday HOPe No. 2 ! (Born on 13th May 2008)

Warm welcome at the Sacred Heart parish

For a long time now we were looking for a local parish where we as Koinonia John the Baptist in Oxford could get involved as a community rather then as individuals.

We have recently got contact details for father David Hartley whom we called and who invited us immediately for a “get to know” meeting at his parish, where we just went yesterday.

“The House of my Heart for all peoples” Our church community is very varied and includes people from many races and nations. We hope to see you soon! May God bless you today.

The above statement I have just found on the parish web-page and I really must confirm, that we felt very welcomed and encouraged to get involved in the parish community life.

Now it is up to us to answer to this calling and I am already very excited about it.

Pentecost 2008

Pentecost 2008 was a special time for us. Firstly, Pentecost is the time, where we celebrate the coming of Holy Spirit 2000 years ago, as well as every day since to all those who believe in Jesus, the Christ.

Secondly, seven members of Oxford’s House of Prayer, became members of Koinonia John the Baptist for a period of one year and Elizabeth prolonged her membership for another three years.

This were indeed good reasons to celebrate.

Pentecost Mass 2008

Father Jan is now a frequent guest at the polish parish in Oxford. Father Krzysztof Pajak has again invited father Jan to celebrate the holy mass while he is visiting Oxford – and it was a blessed time to all of us. See yourself:

It is very important for us to spent just time together… Just see yourself:

Course BENVENUTO (Welcome)

March 8th 2008.

Cogollo (IT), Bristol (UK), Gravesend (UK) and Oxford (UK) met together in Oxford to participate at a course of Koinonia John the Baptist – BENVENUTO. Father Jan Kruczinski (Cogollo, IT) celebrated a Holy mass and then we looked together at who is Koinonia John the Baptist and what it means to be a member of Koinonia John the Baptist. It was great experience to spend a day together: praying, sharing lunch …..

Easter 2008

1 How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! 2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. 3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.

(Psalm 133)

And the Word became flesh this Easter. Our HOPe met to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer, agape – just being together.

Back in Oxford

Oxford, a beautiful city where we live and minister, and where I study, is the place where God planted us 2 ½ years ago. Is it my nature to never be satisfied with what I have? I have 4 months to go until I finish my degree course and I am thinking about what to do and where to go next. Every week there is a career fair at our university where potential employers (big players) make presentations to recruit the next generation of general managers and managing directors. “Pass”, my heart is telling me “it is not for you”. My mind tries to fight – thousands of pounds I’ve spent on this education and it is not for me? My heart is determined… Consequently, I am deleting all the emails about career options as soon as they appear in my mailbox, just so I’m not tempted.

HOPe Oxford continues to grow

After almost one year of Tatiana’s, mine and then Sylwia’s faithful prayer in our new House of Prayer (HOPe), God blessed us from one day to an other with new attendees. This happened in the beginning of the year 2007. First a couple joint us, then an other and so after another ten months we grew to thirteen members. We also have frequently quests who come and pray with us, parents or friends of someone who are visiting Oxford and others.

Last Tuesday we decided to add a monthly prayer meeting into our weekly HOPe’s as we all are growing in faith and friendship and have a need to spent more time with our God and each other. Lately it was difficult for us to finish our prayer on time as the Holy Spirit is touching everyone mighty and we all seek for more. Then we spent time and shared what Jesus did in our lives with each other and under this circumstances to finish our HOPe on time was not possible.

Our new monthly meetings will be on a day during the weekend so we will have plenty of time to pray and to spent time together. This of course will also allow us to keep our time schedule in our HOPe.

I am so excited about this what Jesus has prepared for us and to hear more of how He is blessing us at work, with a new work, with healing, with joy, with new friendships, with new homes, with healthy children, with passed exams and many more of which we haven’t had time to share about.

Jesus is truly risen! We are testifying this as we are experiencing this every day.

“Come and see”, says Jesus as we do and visit our House of prayer this Tuesday.
