I would like to share with you how I came to know Jesus Christ…

I would like to share with you how I came to know Jesus Christ, how my life has been changed by meeting Jesus who is alive. It wasn’t necessarily a dramatic encounter, but rather a step by step journey. However, even if the encounter wasn’t dramatic, the changes in my life have been.

I wasn’t brought up a Christian at all, but for some reason at the age of about fourteen I decided to start going to my local sleepy Anglican parish in a small quiet nondescript English town. Shortly after, there was a Billy Graham mission in the parish and after the preaching there was a call to come forward for those who wanted to give their lives to Jesus. I went forward, and a team lead me in a prayer giving my life to Jesus. If God had been scripting a Hollywood film, then this would have been the cue for a dramatic life changing moment. Instead, seemingly, nothing altered in my life. I continued to go along once a week to the sleepy church without actually knowing why. In fact I still didn’t even believe in God – for me everything could be explained by logic and science.

KOINONIA JOHN THE BAPTIST
Koinonia John the Baptist is one of the new ecclesial movements formed within the Catholic Church after Vatican II, a fruit of the Holy Spirit, to promote effective ways in preaching the Gospel in response to the challenges of living in todayís world of changing situations.
Formed in 1979 in Italy, Koinonia has almost 5,000 members world-wide consisting of priests, consecrated brothers and sisters, and lay faithful. A lay community of 80 members now exists in Belfast since October 2001. Koinonia is a community formed in friendship, with a call to evangelise in the power of the Holy Spirit, following the example of John the Baptist who witnessed and pointed to Jesus. Koinonia reaches out to all the people of God, including the young, the not so young and the elderly. Koinonia proposes a New Evangelisation according to current Church teaching, by forming people in a biblical mentality and by laying down the foundations of our faith in ‘new ways, new fervour and new methods’ through prayer, praise and scripture proclamation, the encouragement of ‘Houses of Prayer’ and various courses and training (Philip, Paul, John, Moses, Joshua etc.) Koinonia John the Baptist is also actively engaged in outreaches such as street and door to door evangelisation, city faith festivals, and monthly Jesus Heals meetings.
